Negar Salehi, MD, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist in the Section of Regional Cardiovascular Medicine of The Tomsich Family Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. She sees patients at Akron General Medical Office Building.

Experience: Dr. Salehi has more than 20 years’ experience in the diagnosis and management of heart conditions and diseases, including treatment of complex congenital heart conditions. She has participated in more than 2,000 heart catheterizations and coronary angiograms, 300 primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs), and more than 300 other complex coronary interventions, including mitral clip treatment for mitral valve disease like regurgitation, Coarctoplasty for patients with aortic coarctation. She has participated in more than 150 transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR) and more than 200 procedures to open restricted heart valves.
Her experience also includes a combined total of more than 250 closure procedures for the left atrial appendage or congenital holes between the heart’s chambers and more than 150 peripheral angiography and intervention procedures. She has performed more than 500 diagnostic cardiac imaging studies.
Dr. Salehi is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiography and cardiovascular disease and is a fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention.

Education: Dr. Salehi received his Doctorate of Medicine from Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. She did her cardiology and intervention fellowship at Rajaei Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center, Iran University, Tehran, Iran.. After her graduation from intervention fellowship, she joined the same hospital as an assistant professor of medicine. She worked as a faculty member for four years before she immigrated to the USA. She spent two years at Michigan State University (MSU), East Lansing, Michichgan., as a research scholar and a year at Cleveland Clinic in a similar position before an internship and internal medicine residency at MSU’s Sparrow Hospital.
Dr. Salehi continued her specialty training with a cardiology fellowship at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas., and fellowships in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease at Mt. Sinai Heart at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City. She served as chief fellow during his final year.
Dr. Salehi joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2023 following completion of her structural heart disease fellowship.
Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Salehi has coauthored more than 50 papers published in leading medical journals in Iran and the United States, several books and educational CDs for the Shaheed Rajaee Cardiovascular Research Center and chapters in cardiovascular disease textbooks. She has made numerous oral and poster research presentations at national and international cardiology meetings and conferences in Iran and the United States.
